HISTORY OF CAPE FUR SEAL FUR APPLICATIONS

For centuries, seal fur and leather were used to protect communities from the natural elements as clothing. Namibia is the only country in the world that is doing harvesting/farming of the Cape fur seal (Arctocephalus Pussilus) by annual quotas in concession areas as approved by the Namibian government and under the CITES regulations. Today, artisans and designers are using it as a sustainable solution for both function and fashion. The advantages of seal fur are: Incredibly warm, Extremely durable, Exceptionally versatile, Wind & water resistant, Lightweight, Biodegradable and Affordable.
